National Population Register (NPR) |

The Government of India has decided to create a National Population Register (NPR) for
the country. The objective of NPR is to collect personal details of all residents of the
country. Capture of photograph and finger prints of all residents who are of age 15 years
and above in villages/urban areas.
The data collection for preparation of NPR has been undertaken along with the
Houselisting Operations of Census 2011. The following information in respect of each
individual was collected for National Population Register :

The NPR when created would be a comprehensive identity database in the country. This
would not only strengthen security of the country but also help in better targeting of the
benefits and services under the Government scheme
